Rose Of Sharon Christening Gown

$999.00

I fell in love with Irish crochet when I spent 2 summers there as an exchange student. In addition to the academic classes we received a good dose  of culture. I enjoyed hearing about the sanctity of the local floral patterns and the various leaves, shamrocks and picots, beloved in different counties in Ireland. Folklore tells of stories full of blessings for brides and babes.

This Irish lace Christening gown embodies all the important elements of Irish lace, the picot mesh body is a typical base fabric for many of my Irish lace designs. The gown is my interpretation of blessings for a newborn.

The Rose of Sharon on the chest signifies love and a good life for the baby, the blossoms on the shoulders represent the guardian angels protecting the child. The hem features 4 leaf clovers all the way around, smoothing the way through the child’s entire life span. The six clovers on the waist ribbon protect the internal organs. So, much significance is worked into this gown.
