“Most of my Wedding designs are build on Irish Crochet designs and wisdom. I spent several summers in Ireland as a student and tried to learn as much as possible from local women still practicing the old patterns. Aran crochet was still popular in the fishing villages; wool sweaters worked for husbands going out to sea. Of course, it was the potato famine that brought the art of thread lace from Italy to Ireland to teach the local women to create beautiful lace pieces with floral designs to support their income. Each county in Ireland has their own specific design, there is a rose of Sharon, rose of Killarney etc. There are matching leaves and shamrock patterns used for good luck on bridal fashions and I am very excited to create contemporary bridal pieces with the original patterns for inspiration. All my Irish lace pieces are worked with a tiny hook and very thin mercerized cotton. They take long stretches of time to complete and are meant to become heirlooms for your family.”
